Background: the second year MECH students have been working on their design projects which are assembly lines to take apart k-cups. Tim suggested that I be a protester rallying for no k-cups to be made.
So today I was trying to figure out what a protester would wear. And I told James that I was going to be a protestor tomorrow.
He looked at me HORRIFIED and said "No, please just go to work"
And I tried to explain that I would be at work and I would just be "fake" protesting, just for fun. He still felt that this was too embarrassing for him and I should not do it. Clearly this will be a long few years that image is important to a teen.

slip

On Friday morning, I thought I would walk by the hotel my parents were staying at to see if they were still there as they were due to head off to Montreal.
It had become very cold overnight and the sidewalks were very slippery as there has been some meltwaters on them. As I was walking up Regent St. I slipped but I caught myself and did not end up plummeting to the ground. Interestingly, at that exact moment Anne-Marie looked out her window that over looks Regent and saw me and went "Oh" as she thought I was going down but then she was like -she's ok!
I did find my parents at Tim Horton's and so got to see them before they left.
As I walked from Tim's into work I passed a man heading the opposite direction and I could see in his eyes drugs and pain and at that moment I was happy Rustle exists because that is somewhere he could get help from God if he wanted it.

Saturday I went shopping in the morning and James had a hockey tournament during the day so I went to work and got the interview offers out.

Today Rustle did its Church meeting as the main service. For the big things we talked about -urban missionaries, budget, Sam's direction- there were no questions. But when we talked about food, my goodness you couldn't stop the questions. Food is apparently quite dear to our hearts!

James laps Oma

James is now taller than Oma!

We had dinner at the Grizzly Grill to celebrate James' upcoming birthday in May.

Yesterday I had lunch from Cards. Chilli, a fresh baked roll, a cookie and a drink all for $5.

Today during the day Drain-All was here for a long time. They made a big hole in the neighbours yard. The stuck a huge vacuum hose down. Maybe the sewer line was plugged. They haven't filled in the hole yet, so they may not be done!

routine

James planned out a routine for the first day back to school after March break. He didn't keep to it, but he was far more organized than usual and we made good time getting in.

I didn't get to much of the work I had planned today because lots of other things crept up.

I didn't do any more essay reviews tonight because I watched the new Big Brother Canada. There seemed to be a lot more oddballs this year. The girls seem doomed. I'm guessing the guys are going to align like they have every season?

Spring

It is snowing here :(

I won an award!

Though I am not sure for what. And I only heard about it anecdotally. But I am proud of it!

I have been busy marking essays, with more to review over the weekend.

Tomorrow is March Break Open House so I will be at work!

challah

I experimented baking challah bread today. I baked it with cinnamon on top which is not very traditional. But it was yummy!

tea

Today I went with Kim and her mom to a tea at Cafe Church hosted by Rachel. I met Rachel's mom and she has many of the same mannerisms as Rachel. I also met a lady who had attended a service at Next only once and the service was the Rustle commissioning service about 10 years ago. That was fun. She also knows Johnny M, who I babysat for his family about 20 years ago.

I think Kim's mom had a good time. She talked a lot and I don't think she gets to do that much. She worries a lot too, but she seems to be doing ok!

resistant

Last night I thought I was well enough not to take cough medicine. I woke at 2am with a coughing fit and was worse in the coughing department all day. So evidently that was a poor decision. I will be taking my cough medicine tonight!

dazed

There was a crank call in the middle of the night on the land line.

What amused me was my response.

Waking out of a deep sleep I first check my cell phone because that is my alarm clock. I realize that it isn't it.

My second thought is it is the vacuum. I am not sure what sort of thinking my poor sleep addled brain was firing on, but I somehow I landed on VACUUM.

Anyway I finally figure out it is the phone and answer it.

Because it is the middle of the night and might be important, obviously!

But the person calling I don't know and in my sleep addled state I think the guy is from a Nigerian scam.

So I'm trying to explain to him that it is the middle of the night. (Because clearly Nigerian scams should be operating in the daytime!) Then I hang up. And unplug the phone so he can't call back again.

I was feeling better today despite the night awakening and was back at work.

recession

The ice and snow that built up on the back porch (metal roof) came crashing down yesterday. This year, it doesn't seem to have damaged the porch. So winter is recessing.

Last night I was able to sleep. I propped my pillow up as much as was still comfortable and I took cough suppressant and it seemed to work, I did sleep. I worked in the morning from home and then took a nap. Then I felt worse and I wasn't sure if I would be able to go to work tomorrow but I rallied later and I feel much better. I feel like I am on the mend, finally.

What is harder to measure is if I am ready to go back to work tomorrow.

incubate

James' team won the championship! He is quite pleased.

I didn't leave the house today, trying to get myself in shape to take on the night as that is where the battle lies. I'll take the cough suppressant again tonight and hope it goes better.

I had to fire my life on Pepsi Next today to stay awake.

I watched Kim's Church on livestream. This morning the speaker talked about inner healing. Read a book and did some marking. Tried to keep it a quiet day.

Suppressed

I took some cough suppressant at 9pm before I went to bed in hopes of sleeping through the night. I got a couple of hours of sleep before it wore off and have been coughing since then. I can't take another dose until 3am.

James is in a tournament at the Memorial center this weekend and his team made the semi finals. The semi-final game is at 8am. He had to be at the rink for 7am and so up at 6:30am. 5:30am old time. So this time change will really be felt especially since I am sick.

I don't cough as much during the day- this is a nighttime thing. I am just sitting up for a bit taking some vicks and seeing if I can get some more sleep!

Dam break

Last night I thought to myself, "Self, you are sick, you need to go to bed early". So, I turned my sick self in. As soon as my head hit the pillow, though, something in my sickness broke and I could not stop coughing. So I coughed most of the night and did not get a good sleep.

Today I bought cough suppressant in case it happens again tonight.

I think overall it is a good thing as things have loosened up. But I still have no voice. Don't call me today!

The timetable tried to kill me, but I survived

I was pretty sick still yesterday but I stayed up late working on the timetable. Managed to submit it today, but have already found something missing so will have to resubmit before Monday.
I still have no voice but I think am getting better.
Will sleep now!

no voice

My voice was gone when I woke up this morning.
Catherine says that means it is viral. I don't know if that is good or bad. But it means that I need to let it runs its course whatever that might be.
My voice led to amusement for some as Steve called it my "whiskey voice" and Brian referred to me as a "frog". So at least there was some good in the day.
Unfortunately, it was not a good day for all. I was a world destroyer today. I had to tell someone the truth about the possibility of getting into one of our programs. And it was not a good possibility. So I felt bad, but my feeling was it is better to face the truth earlier than later.

2 hours

My goal for today was to carve out 2 dedicated hours to work on my timetabling file. My goal for today was a failure. There was just too much going on to work on anything. I did get a lot done though, but an still behind. Putting off everything I can until next week to focus on that timetabling that is due on Friday.

I seem to be fighting a cold a well :(

The afternoon when I was walking home I had a pain in my foot like there was a cut there. This often happens in the winter due to dry skin but when I took off my sock when I got home, my foot looked fine, no cuts or scratches. But when I looked more carefully, there was a white spot between 2 toes- like a pimple but white.

nothing

The women tell nothing show really did tell nothing useful. Britt seems to still lack any self understanding of her actions so I'm hoping she is not the next B'ette. Kelsey grew on me a little bit as did Ashley S. Kaitlyn stayed about the same. It will be interesting to see who they select as the B'ette for the next series. Kaitlyn seems the least problematic road to travel down.

I got some papers marked. I'm up to "S". Baked some brownies. Did some laundry. Washed some dishes. But have not cleaned the house in a few weeks. You win some, you lose some!

frozen

I worked very hard at trying to get through my email today (Mondays are always the busiest)and just managed to get done in time to run out for my dentist appointment.

They wanted to do some work on one of my teeth so they froze me. It all seemed to go well, but I am still frozen.

Going to do some marking now and then watch the Bach at 8. It is the women tell nothing episode.

partly cloudy

I watched this clip this morning and then at Rustle it seemed to fit in to the message from Al and Karen "Don't run from suffering, embrace it...self help is no help at all, self sacrifice is the way"

In the evening I went to Kim's Church for a service they had on current world issues

It was quite interesting but the best part happened after the service as I had reunions with some old friends- Jenny and Janice. Jenny I see every few months and we catch up but Janice I last saw at her wedding shower and that was over 10 years ago. So it was all good!
